About the Band

Our Music

The B-Boyz have a versatile repertoire that represents the best of the 60’s through the 90’s.  They have selected material that has stood the test of time, and has the ability to cause people to want to get up and dance.  Whether it’s good old time Rock n’ Roll, funky dance music, blues, Motown classics or a tender ballad, the Boyz have what most people are looking for.

Barry SweetJackson – Keyboard, Lead Vocals

Barry “Jackson” is the leader and co-founder of the B-Boyz.  He has been in the music arena since he was 13 years old, with his first band The Coming Generation.  Other bands include Panda, Gold Brick, Jerry Moore & Martha Valez, and Mr. Rusty.  His bands have opened for Mountain, Sly & the Family Stone and others.  His audio experience is extensive, working with artists like Steve Gadd, Robbie Dupree, Cornell Dupree, Jack Dijonette, Charlie Knicely, Rick Danko, Eric Gale & The Stuff Band, Fabulous Rhinestones, McFadden Sound, Joyous Lake, Todd Rundgren, and Linda Rhonstadt to name a few.  Assistant Engineer for Niki Records, Gospel Dept., and band leader, lead vocalist, keyboard and percussion for a contemporary Gospel group, God’s Word Worship Band.

Peter Martin has been known in the industry as a top notch percussionist for over twenty-five years.  He has performed and recorded with artists such as Chubby Checker, ZZ Hill, Robbie Dupree, Boris Mindy, Front Page, Pockets, East Coast Band, Gary’s Gang, Lazarus, Coco Du Jour, Martha Valez, Mighty Sparrow, Quest For Life, Willie Amrod, Ship, Ivory Rose, Painted Blue Sky, and More.

Rupert Ifil – Drums

Panama born and raised, Ruperto is a drummer who lives with the beat of Caribbean and Latin music in his heart.  After arriving in the United States to continue his studies, he became a protege of renowned musician Will Lee, who arranged for him to attend workshops in Harlem, NY with the late great Dizzy Gillespie, and thus began his journey into the world of professional musicians.  During this period, Ruperto joined forces with renown avant-guard multi-instrumentalist Arthur Rhames.  They performed cutting edge and original material playing venues in NYC.

During his tenure as manager of Birdland West in SOHO, NY, Ruperto celebrated his 21st birthday by joining legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius on stage.  This experience cemnented his love for fusion, funk, and world music.  Upon moving to Woodstock, NY in 1977, which nourished his love of live music, he vowed to retire in the beautiful hamlet someday.  However, raising a daughter required him to seek steady work in NYC.

Ruperto returned to the Hudson Valley (Woodstock) in 2001 with the purpose of building an arts and entertainment complex that would produce major live events.  While he was able to accomplish that, the call of the drums was too powerful to resist.  He is currently playing with a wide variety of musicians in a myriad of genres from jazz and funk to rock, blues, Latin and world music.  Ruperto’s impressive list of credits and references keeps growing.  He’s now drummer for The BBoyz.
